ZZZZzzzzzz....

.....And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”
Most of us are familiar with this story. Jesus was sound asleep while the disciples and others (who were in those little boats, anyway??) were going through a really bad storm. So bad, in fact, that the ship was taking on a lot of water. Fearful? Oh yeah. Big time. Honestly, I probably would be also.

It was mentioned this morning during church that often times, Christians might feel that Jesus is taking a nap even today. He lives in our hearts, has taken up residence, but at times we wonder, 'What's He doing in there?" Sometimes it seems that He is silent. He's not though..

I've learned that sometimes I'm on a need to know basis, and sometimes, I simply don't need to know, but to only trust. Trust that in amid the storms, often created by humanity itself, is not going unnoticed by the Savior. It's not  until after God has worked out His plan that I can go, "ohhhhh NOW I get it!" All this time I was fretting, and He had something up His sleeve the entire time.

That's pretty good to remember, especially in this day and time of stupidity.  Just recently, an article appeared in the paper highlighting some of the decisions made by the state government. The homeless will no longer get aid, teachers will be held accountable for those students who never show up, and consequently fail the state mandated test. Unions are also being dissolved so that we can cram 35+ students into one undersized classroom with no room to move. Ratio of 1 to 35?  Stupid. This is just one state. What's going on nationally, and globally? Stupidity abounds.

Ahhh... but this isn't a post about the stupidity of humanity, but rather about the faithfulness of God. We are surrounded by wind and wave on all sides, but unlike Jesus in the physical form, our Jesus never sleeps nor slumbers. Consider the Psalms:

 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

So the question is, do you believe this? When politicians pass stupid laws, are these laws too much to handle? When your spouse of 40 years suddenly passes away, is this too much for God? When your children move away, can God handle this?
No, God is faithful, He is willing to fashion our lives as He knows is best.
Timothy tells us:

If we are faithless,
He remains faithful;
He cannot deny Himself.

Tired of the storms? Tired of the stupidity? Tired of the heartache? Don't go to a pastor, a shrink or psychologist. Don't go to church activity, bible studies or prayer chains. Fasting won't work either. Jesus tells us one place to go, in order to get that rest. Come to Jesus.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Come to Jesus where you're at. Rest your soul.
